Chapter 2: Office Procedures - Clocking In and Out with Kronos
The University of Cincinnati uses a system called Kronos to track employee work hours. Employees access the system through university telephones specifically designated by their supervisors. You must clock in through the telephone in the student worker area of the UC Second Life Project office.
Your supervisor will give you a Kronos ID number shortly after you start work. Until you have your number, e-mail your supervisor at the BEGINNING and END of each shift as a substitute time stamp. If you do not clock in or out, or if you forget to e-mail your supervisor at the beginning and end of your shift until you receive a Kronos ID, you may not be paid for the hours you have worked. Excessive trouble remembering to clock in and out (or to send e-mail in the interim) may be grounds for termination. You are responsible for tracking your own time! We recommend that you keep a log of your hours to ensure that your hours are properly recorded.
Specific instructions for clocking in and out with Kronos are as follows:
Dial 8-3939 on your designated phone.
Enter your Kronos ID and press #.
You will be prompted for a password. The first time, this will be “1111" and you will be prompted to change it. Otherwise, just enter your password and press #. The password you select will be your password henceforth.
When prompted to enter a function, press “1” to timestamp. When you hear "timestamp accepted," hang up.
If you have questions regarding the Kronos system or how to record your hours, please contact your supervisor.
